FAQ: how Showcraft works

Written on 2026-10-28, during the private beta. The numbers under Plans and credits are the ones set that day; they will move before the first invoice.

What is Showcraft?

An app for people who make videos by talking. It asks you questions the way an interviewer would, one at a time, under the lens of your phone. You answer to the camera, in your own words. What you said becomes your script, your takes and your video. Nothing is written for you that you did not say.

Who answers me when I talk to the app?

Two ways, and you choose in Settings.

When your own Claude is not listening (you have not said "drive Showcraft", or it stopped), the companion answers meanwhile, on your credits, and the app tells you so once per visit. Nothing waits unanswered.

Plans and credits

The app is $10 a month. It comes with a starting credit, about $5, so the first month's answers come from the frontier model without buying anything.

Two levels of answers. Every call to the companion goes to one of two models:

What credit buys. Credit is bought in dollars. Of each $10 of credit, $7.50 goes to the model at our cost; the other 25% is Showcraft's margin, which pays for the servers and the work. So $10 of credit is $7.50 of Opus, which is many hours of answers: a typical turn costs a few cents.

When the credit is gone, nothing breaks. Your calls go to the Haiku level until you buy credit again, or you plug your own Claude or ChatGPT and pay them instead of us. We still support you; the support is lighter.

Why this shape. It gives everyone the same app, lets the people who want the best answers pay for exactly what they use, and keeps the door open for those who already have an assistant.

How do I plug my own Claude or ChatGPT?

Settings, then "My own Claude": the connector's address and a sign-in. In Claude, add the connector, then say "drive Showcraft". From then on your assistant listens to the app: what you say at the red button and in the chat reaches it, and its answers come back to the page you are on. Say "stop" to end it; "drive Showcraft" to start again.

What happens to a link I send?

It becomes a reference of your project, recorded in two steps. First the link with why it matters for your channel. Then the transcript, fetched every way we know (a transcript is never dropped: when every way fails, the server keeps trying on its own), and the write-up: a summary, the main points with their times, the rationale, the ideas for your channel. The agent writes it; you can read it, change it, place passages from it in your arc.

What is the to-do list for?

The next content for your channel: a video to record, a story to tell, a post to make, with a due date and, if you want, a cadence. When you arrive, the app, your Claude and the chat tell you what is due.

What changed in the app?

Every change is posted in the community's Discord, channel #app-updates. The invite is in the foot of every page.

Where is my data?

On our servers, in your project, and in the storage bucket for the videos; see Privacy. You can export a project's scripts as markdown at any time.
